What do I bring?
How do I apply?
If you are a young man or
woman in your junior year of high school and reside within Rotary
District 5340 you may apply for the District 5340 RYLA scholarship. To
apply, please do the following.

Go to the
online
Student Application Form
(you MUST apply online), fill out the required “Student
Information” fields, and click on “Submit” to email your pre-selection
information to the RYLA Registrar.

Print out the entire form,
fill-in all additional information, and get all required signatures.

Complete
your brief essay describing your best and worst leadership experience.

Turn all completed forms and your essay in to your School Counselor or to
a Sponsoring Rotary Club Representative as soon as possible.

A
Sponsoring Rotary Club Representative will notify you of the time and
place of your mandatory RYLA selection interview.

Following
your interview, applicants selected to attend RYLA and applicants
selected as alternates will be notified in writing by their sponsoring
Rotary Club of their selection status.

If you are
selected to attend RYLA, commitment for the entire three day event is
mandatory. Go to the RYLA website at
www.rylaconference.com and click on the “Students” link for
additional information.

What do I bring?

A positive attitude and a
sense of humor!
|
 |
Warm Sleeping Bag (Expect temperatures in the low 30's at night) and a
pillow. Use of an extra blanket as a liner is helpful for lighter bags.
Camp beds have mattresses only.

 |
Toiletries and other personal hygiene items – toothbrush, toothpaste,
soap, shampoo, etc.
|
 |
Prescription medication(s) – must be listed on your Application
|
 |
Bath and hand towels.
|
 |
Walking shoes, tennis shoes, or hiking boots only. Sandals or open toed
shoes are not allowed.
|
 |
Dress is casual – jeans, tee shirts and sweat shirts. Shorts are
acceptable, but may not be desired when the weather turns cold (30's at
night is expected).

 |
Long pants are necessary. Don’t forget extra underwear and socks.
|
 |
Jacket, gloves, and other warm clothes since there is a good chance that it
will rain or snow so be prepared with warm clothes.
|
 |
Lightweight flashlight – remember fresh batteries.
|
 |
Digital or film camera (remember film).
|
 |
Backpacks are suggested for a carrying jacket, your Program Handbook, and
other items.
|
 |
Travel alarm clock.
|
 |
Leave pagers, MP3 players, etc., behind. Students are prohibited from
using these items.
